Biography

'PhD in Organic Synthesis of Natural Products from the University of Alberta, Edmonton. Postdoctoral work at the Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles, Gif sur Yvette, France. Specialized on Medicinal Chemistry and EcoHealth, with strong emphasis on controlling vector insects, without pesticides, by educating people on the life cycle of the insects and empowering them with the responsibility of caring for their surrounding environment. One example, is the creation and implementation of the ‘ovillanta’, a piece of a recycled tire to enhance the attraction of natural chemical lures, to a tremendous success. This allows for the recycling and elimination of tires, which produce mosquitoes, putting those tire pieces to destroy the same insects. Profiting from our continuous traveling through the region, we are developing other projects with local farmers, giving added value to their agricultural residues and identifying, extracting compounds of pharmaceutical value. One example, we are educating people on the extraction and purification of mangiferin from waste mango leaves and peel. '
